Rust's server browser renders a small subset of Unity rich text — not full markdown or BBCode. Use the toolbar to insert tags at your cursor.

Facepunch doesn't publish an official spec for this. The tag list, the preview, and the ~512-character limit below are based on what's consistently reported by Rust server admins — not an official document. Client updates can change what actually renders. Always check a real description in-game before you rely on it.

An approximation of the description panel players see. Text in plain angle brackets is a tag the browser won't render — either unsupported or missing its closing tag — shown literally on purpose so you catch it before players do.

Server banner images (server.headerimage) are a separate, purely visual cfg setting — out of scope here.
