Does the factory keep running while we are offline?

The server keeps running. Whether the factory keeps producing without connected players is up to you, set it in the Server Manager with the option to pause an empty server.

In the game through the Server Manager they add the server by entering the address and port from the panel. On the first connection they name the server and set the admin password.

Can I upload an existing save?

Yes, you upload a save from your own computer through the Server Manager and continue it together.
